Casamigos

Casamigos began as a private supply. Rande Gerber and George Clooney wanted a tequila they could drink at home in Mexico without wincing, commissioned batches for themselves and their friends, and only turned it into a business when the distillery told them to stop ordering personal quantities. The name means "house of friends".
Blanco, Reposado, Añejo — the Whole Decision
Time in oak is what separates them, and it changes the spirit completely.
Blanco — unaged, bottled straight after distillation. Fresh agave, citrus and a herbal mint lift. No oak between you and the agave. The margarita bottle.
Reposado — seven months in American white oak. That is short for a reposado, and deliberately so: enough barrel to round the edges, not enough to bury the agave. The most versatile of the three.
Añejo — fourteen months, double the Reposado. At that length oak becomes structural and the tequila behaves more like an aged whiskey. A sipping bottle, and wasted in a cocktail.
Mezcal Joven
A different spirit, not smoky tequila. Made in Oaxaca rather than Jalisco, from espadín agave rather than Blue Weber, and roasted in earth-lined pits over hot rocks before fermentation. The smoke comes from that roasting — it is a production method, not a flavouring. If you drink peated whisky, this is the closest thing agave has to Islay.
