No Citrus in the Still — Deliberately
Almost every gin uses citrus peel among its botanicals. Boodles does not. It is built on nine botanicals — juniper, coriander, angelica, caraway, nutmeg, rosemary, sage and cassia among them — with the citrus left out entirely.
The reasoning is practical: leave the citrus out of the bottle so the drinker adds it fresh. A Boodles G&T with a real lemon twist tastes brighter than a gin that already has dried peel baked in.
It was the gin of choice at London's Boodles gentlemen's club, which is where the name comes from.
