Stella Artois

Stella Artois began in Leuven, Belgium, as a seasonal Christmas brew — stella is Latin for star, which is why the star has been on the label ever since.
A Pilsner, Not a Lager
The distinction matters. Stella is brewed with Saaz hops, the same Czech variety used in the classic pilsners, and with the original Stella Artois yeast. That gives it a firm hop bitterness most mass lagers do not have — which is why it stands up to food where a lighter beer disappears.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Clear pale gold with a firm white head
- Nose: Floral Saaz hops over clean malt
- Palate: Full-flavoured and crisp, with definite bitterness
- Finish: Clean, dry and bitter
How to Serve It
Cold, 4 to 6°C — slightly warmer than an American lager, which lets the Saaz hop character come through. Pour into a glass with a proper head rather than drinking from the bottle.
Food Pairing
Grilled meats and barbecue; fried chicken and crispy pata, where the hop bitterness cuts through fat; mussels and seafood, the Belgian classic; sharp cheeses.
Perfect For
Dinners and gatherings, drinkers who want actual bitterness in their beer, and bars stocking a recognised European pilsner. Available in multi-bottle packs.
For adults of legal drinking age only. Please enjoy responsibly.
