100% Barley, No Shortcuts

Most mass-market lager uses rice or corn alongside barley to cut cost and lighten the body. Singha doesn't — combined with Saaz hops, the same variety found in classic European pilsners, that makes it fuller and hoppier than most Southeast Asian lagers, and gives it enough backbone to hold up against genuinely spicy food.

• Singha — full-bodied and rich, with a distinct Saaz hop lift and a crisp, lasting bitterness.

How to Serve It

Cold, 4 to 6°C, poured into a glass rather than drunk from the bottle — there's more aroma here than in a standard lager and it's worth letting out.

Food Pairing

Pad thai, green curry and Thai food generally; spicy Bicol Express and sisig, where the hops stand up to chilli; grilled seafood; fried chicken and pulutan.
