Kavalan put Taiwan on the whisky map — the distillery has won international blind-tasting awards against Scotland's best since opening in 2005, a genuinely fast rise for a new whisky-producing country. Genuine imported stock, delivered nationwide across the Philippines.
Why Taiwan Makes Whisky This Fast
Taiwan's subtropical heat and humidity push spirit in and out of the barrel dramatically faster than Scotland's cool, steady climate. A few years in a Taiwanese warehouse can develop the colour and depth a Scotch would need well over a decade for — the tradeoff is a much higher "angel's share," the whisky lost to evaporation each year.
What We Stock
- Kavalan Distillery Select No. 1 — smooth and approachable, tropical fruit, vanilla and subtle florals. Easy sipping or mixing.
- Kavalan Distillery Select No. 2 — warmer and more refined, floral, herbal and spiced-wood notes with greater complexity than No. 1.
Which One Should You Buy?
- New to Taiwanese whisky: Distillery Select No. 1 — fruity and easy, a gentle introduction to the house style.
- Want more depth: Distillery Select No. 2 — the spice and wood come through more.
How to Drink It
Neat, in a nosing glass, with a few drops of water rather than ice. Given how much character develops in a short time here, a splash of water genuinely opens these up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Taiwanese whisky actually good, or just a novelty?
Genuinely good — Kavalan has beaten well-known Scotch names in blind tastings at international competitions. The category earned its reputation rather than borrowing one.
Why does Taiwanese whisky taste more mature at a younger age?
Heat and humidity. Faster temperature swings push whisky in and out of the wood more aggressively than a cool climate does, extracting flavour much faster — at the cost of losing more spirit to evaporation each year.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes. Everything is packed in secure, well-cushioned packaging built for glass, and we supply both retail and wholesale buyers across the Philippines.
For adults of legal drinking age only. Please enjoy responsibly.
