Where it sits: the counterpart to Distillery Select No. 1, and the drier of the two.
Kavalan started distilling in Yilan, Taiwan in 2005. The reason a distillery that young is taken seriously worldwide is the climate: Taiwan's subtropical heat and humidity accelerate maturation dramatically, so a Kavalan of a few years reaches a depth that would take a Scotch well over a decade. The cost is evaporation — Kavalan loses far more of each cask than a Scottish distillery does.
Distillery Select No. 2 goes the drier route: floral and herbal on the nose, with more visible wood and spice than No. 1.

How It Differs From No. 1
Same distillery, same strength, different direction. No. 1 is fruit-led — tropical fruit and vanilla, softer and sweeter. No. 2 is floral, herbal and drier, with more wood showing. Neither sits above the other; pick by preference.
