Nutty, Malty Speyside — The Straightforward One

Where it sits: the entry point to The Singleton of Dufftown, and one of the better-value Speyside malts in the catalogue at this price.

Dufftown is one of Speyside's working distilleries rather than a famous name, and The Singleton is Diageo's way of putting a single malt from it on the shelf. It replaced the Singleton of Auchroisk, and it is aged in a high proportion of European oak — which is what gives it the nutty, malty character rather than the light fruit most Speyside malts lead with.

Straightforward is the right word for it, and not a criticism. There is nothing to work out.
