The twelve-pointed stag on the bottle comes from 1263, when an ancestor of the Mackenzie clan saved King Alexander III from a charging stag and was granted the right to bear it on his coat of arms. The distillery has used it ever since.
Twelve years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then a finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks. That two-stage maturation is the Dalmore signature and it is why this tastes richer than most Highland malts at the price.
