Most whisky is diluted to 40% before bottling. Nikka From The Barrel is bottled at 51.4%, close to the strength it comes out of the cask — and that is the whole proposition. Nothing is stripped out to make it easier.
It blends both malt and grain whiskies, matured in bourbon barrels, sherry butts and refill hogsheads, then married in cask again before bottling. The little 500ml bottle is deliberate: it is dense enough that you drink less of it.

How to Serve
Neat first, in small measures, then add water — at 51.4% a few drops changes the whisky completely and you will find more in it, not less. Over a large cube also works well.
