Description
Cognac Aged at Least Four Years
Martell is one of the oldest cognac houses, and VSOP Médaillon is its benchmark expression. VSOP stands for Very Superior Old Pale — a legal classification requiring the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend to have aged a minimum of four years.
The Martell style is built on balance: lusciously fine fruity notes against subtle woody overtones, rather than the heavy oak some houses favour.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Ripe fruit with soft oak underneath
- Palate: Elegant and harmonious — fruit forward, mellow spice, restrained wood
- Finish: Smooth and rounded
How to Serve
Neat in a tulip glass, or over a single large cube. VSOP also holds up well in cocktails — a Sidecar or a Cognac Summit (cognac, ginger ale, lime and cucumber) both work, and the latter suits Philippine heat considerably better than a neat pour.
