Every Jack Daniel's is filtered through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal before barrelling. Gentleman Jack is the one that goes through it twice — once before the barrel and once after — and that second mellowing is the entire point of the bottle.
The result is noticeably softer than Old No.7: the same Lynchburg character with the edges taken off.

How It Differs From Old No.7
One extra charcoal mellowing. Old No.7 is filtered once, before the barrel; Gentleman Jack is filtered again after maturation. Same distillery, same mash bill — Gentleman Jack is simply softer and rounder, which makes it the better sipping bottle and Old No.7 the better mixer.

Neat or over a single large cube — this is the Jack Daniel's worth drinking slowly. It also makes a superior Old Fashioned, where the extra smoothness shows.
