Kurant is blackcurrant, svarta vinbär in Swedish, and it is a more specific choice than it looks. Blackcurrant grows wild across Sweden and in nearly every country garden, ripening in July when the country largely stops work and goes on holiday. It is the flavour of a Swedish summer.
The flavour is distilled in rather than added afterwards, and like the rest of the range it carries no added sugar — which keeps it tart rather than syrupy.
