France Wine

French wine from Listel, grown in the coastal Languedoc where the vines sit in sand rather than clay or limestone. Genuine imported stock, delivered nationwide across the Philippines.

Why the Sand Matters

Sand holds and reflects heat, ripening the fruit more fully than the latitude alone would — which is why these wines taste warmer and rounder than their modest price suggests. The same sandy Camargue coast also happens to be one of the few places in Europe phylloxera couldn't survive, since the louse needs clay to move through.

What We Stock

• Merlot — the softest. Plum and blueberry with a thread of cinnamon.
• Cabernet Sauvignon — the most structured. Black fruit, spice and cassis.
• Chardonnay — red apple and pear moving to pineapple and melon, riper than a northern French white.

Which One Should You Buy?

• For a weeknight or someone new to red: Merlot.
• For steak and richer dishes: Cabernet Sauvignon.
• For seafood: Chardonnay.
